The Jaguar XFR has quite astonishing - and controllable - performance
You start to wonder if Jaguar has screwed up and put the normally aspirated version of the potent V8 in the XFR. This can’t be an M5 competitor – it’s just too civilised. The ride is cosseting and compliant, but with an underlying – and reassuring – firmness.
Hyundai Veloster to get new 204bhp Turbo
When Hyundai revealed details of the Veloster Coupe – the successor to the successful Hyundai Coupe – we found lots we liked and, really, just on thing we didn’t – its paucity of power. All the new Veloster had to offer was the 138bhp 1.6 litre GDI petrol which, although quite frugal, didn’t exactly light a fire of desire for the Veloster in the way we would have liked. So when we reported a couple of weeks ago that Hyundai had revealed a couple of new engines in Korea – a 204bhp turbo and a 150bhp diesel – we rather hoped that Hyundai would see fit to bolt both in to the Veloster sooner rather than later.

Volkswagen’s push for more sales in the US will be reinforced with the new Routan minivan, due to be shown to its North American market at the Chicago Auto Show in February 2008. The model is heavily based on the Chrysler Town and Country (the Grand Voyager to you and me) and will major on interior space. The car itself is over five metres long and accommodates seven.
